November 12, 2010; My last day in India.
After six months spent in New Delhi, I went to Commonwealth Games 2010 Secretary General office to say goodbye.
Dr. Bhanot, Secretary General, knew that I am leaving before they paid me, told me not to worry, that everything we agreed will be OK, that he will personally take care of that.
He gave me his word, and somebody of people sitting in his room took this picture with my camera.
Next day, I returned to US.
Today, more than six months after that, he is in jail, and I am still expecting that somebody from Organizing Committee will respect contract which I had with them, and pay me for my work there.
I did my job there; It was the most challenging project in my life. Our team did what was expected from us, and I have to say that without Dr. Bhanot’s support (regardless of what he did wrong and finished in custody), it would not be possible. My biggest achievement there was convincing him that we need more qualified people to join us at the last moment and help us to prepare Timing, Scoring and Results for Games. Contrary to a lot of other managers, he was a man who understood that we are late with preparation for Games, and he did approve almost everything I asked for. Without him, we would not succeed.
It is bad that he did not keep his word given to me. It is sad that Organisation under control of Indian Government does not fulfill their obligations from contract. It is bad that today everybody talk about CWG corruption, and nobody remember success of Games.
It is pity, that the work of wonderful people from all over the India (volunteers and professionals) is in shadow of corruption. It is good that I have a new friends.
Life is going on …
